This spacious apartment is located in a pre-war building in Greenwich Village. Designed for a couple in the worlds of art and publishing who love to entertain, the clients have an extensive collection of art, furniture, and literature that required the right combination of storage and display. The design of the space accommodates both of their large collections and creates spaces for groups of guests both large and small.
An open plan and the use of vibrant color throughout contrast with white walls and an otherwise neutral color palette. Furniture and lighting are a balance of vintage and contemporary pieces including Campanino chairs by Levaggi, a Murano glass chandelier by Venini, a crystal lamp by Carlo Scarpa, and two-tone armchairs by Gio Ponte.
Vica, Selldorf’s in-house furnishings company, designed custom pieces for the home and provided others from their collection including the Herbert Chair and the T-Back Sofa. Original wood floors were restored throughout the apartment. The result is a refined, comfortable home perfect for entertaining.
