New Details on Frieze Masters

Selldorf Architects, September 26, 2012

Selldorf Architects has designed a temporary structure for the upcoming Frieze Masters, a new art fair that explores the relationship between old and new art. The fair which includes over 90 of the world’s leading galleries will present work ranging from the ancient era and old masters to art of the 20th century. Located on Glouster Green in London’s Regent Park, the design brings the park environment inside through transparent exterior walls and a layout which includes public squares and walkways with benches and silver birch trees. Tall ceilings will amplify the structure’s feeling of light and air. Inside the pavilion, a series of smaller structures with walls and ceilings will house the galleries, providing an intimately-scaled setting for viewing works of art. A palette of greys and whites will be used to provide flexibility for exhibitors’ needs while also maintaining a coherent appearance for the fair. Frieze Masters runs October 11-14.
