Selldorf Architects recently completed the construction of David Zwirner Hong Kong in one of the city’s newest towers, H Queen’s. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition “Michaël Borremans: Fire from the Sun” opened to the public on January 27th.

Annabelle Selldorf Discusses Current Work at the GSD

On January 31st, Annabelle Selldorf gave a lecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In it, she discussed the firm’s most recent work, including the expansion and renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; LUMA Arles, a new center for contemporary arts in southern France; and the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility, the largest facility of its kind in the United States.

Hauser & Wirth LA Awarded the Los Angeles Conservancy’s 2018 Chair’s Award

We are excited to share that Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles has been awarded the Los Angeles Conservancy’s 2018 Chair’s Award, recognizing its significant role in the preservation of Los Angeles’ unique historic sites.

The late-19th and early-20th century former mill and food manufacturing facility was transformed into a contemporary and multi-disciplinary arts center. The design prioritized the preservation of the original buildings’ distinctive industrial character and enhanced its connection to the neighborhood’s artistic and historic context. The project includes galleries, event space, offices, a book shop, restaurant and large courtyard used for a variety of programming. Selldorf Architects acted as the consulting architect for the project, which was led by the LA-based firm Create Space.

Selldorf Architects Selected for Reinstallation of Collection of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta

We are pleased to announce that Selldorf Architects has been selected to design a major reinstallation of the permanent collection of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The reinstallation will involve all seven of the High’s curatorial departments and will emphasize key concepts across genres and time periods. The project will encompass the original Richard Meier designed Stent Family Wing as well as the 2005 addition by Renzo Piano – the Wieland Pavilion and Anne Cox Chambers Wing. Working with the Museum, Selldorf Architects will develop all aspects of gallery design and space planning, including wall configurations, casework design and fabrication, object placement and mounting, lighting and gallery wayfinding and signage. The work is set to commence in late spring of this year and will be open to the public in the fall.

LUMA Arles receives an Architecture Merit Award from AIANY

LUMA Arles, a new contemporary art center in Arles, France, received a 2018 Architecture Merit Award from AIANY! Announced at the annual Center for Architecture Design Awards Jury Symposium, the project repurposes the industrial ruins of a 16-acre rail depot for Fondation LUMA. Exhibition: “Medardo Rosso: Sight Unseen and his Encounters with London”

Galerie Thaddeus Ropac presents the show titled “Medardo Rosso: Sight Unseen and his Encounters with London” exhibited at the Ely House, a Grade I listed building recently renovated by Selldorf Architects. The exhibition is curated by Sharon Hecker, leading international expert on Rosso and Julia Peyton-Jones, Senior Global Director, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, and designed by Selldorf Architects. The show features a selection of Rosso’s sculptures, as well as rarely shown drawings and, for the first time in the UK, his own photographs of his work. On view through February 10th, 2018.

Mwabwindo School honored with 2017 Panerai Design Miami/ Visionary Award

We are pleased to announce that the Mwabwindo School has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Panerai Design Miami/ Visionary Award. For the first time, the award recipient is a collaborative project, conceived by the 14+ Foundation, Selldorf Architects, and artist Rashid Johnson with the new contribution of Design Miami commissioned furniture by Christ & Gantenbein. Designed by Selldorf Architects, the school is inspired by the tall trees on the surrounding savanna that serve as shaded gathering spaces…

Selldorf Architects selected to design Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong

Selldorf Architects has been selected to design the 10,000 sf gallery for the new Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong location. The gallery space will be spread across two stories of the H Queen’s development in the Central district of Hong Kong. This marks the seventh gallery Selldorf Architects has designed for Hauser & Wirth including locations in New York, London, Zurich and Los Angeles. The Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong gallery is set to open in Spring of 2018.

 

 

Clandon Park International Design Competition Final Concept

We are very proud to share our design concept for the Clandon Park International Design Competition. Our team includes Cowie Montgomery Architects, Studio Otero Pailos, Arup, Vogt Landscape Architects, and Martin Ashley Architects. The scheme honors Clandon Park’s rich architectural and cultural history while providing an opportunity for a dynamic and transporting visitor experience. The final concepts of all six competitors can be seen here and will also be on display at Clandon Park from August 23rd to October 1st, before the final jury selection this fall.
