We are excited to share that Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles has been awarded the Los Angeles Conservancy’s 2018 Chair’s Award, recognizing its significant role in the preservation of Los Angeles’ unique historic sites.
The late-19th and early-20th century former mill and food manufacturing facility was transformed into a contemporary and multi-disciplinary arts center. The design prioritized the preservation of the original buildings’ distinctive industrial character and enhanced its connection to the neighborhood’s artistic and historic context. The project includes galleries, event space, offices, a book shop, restaurant and large courtyard used for a variety of programming. Selldorf Architects acted as the consulting architect for the project, which was led by the LA-based firm Create Space.
