We are pleased to announce our selection as architects for the Shaker Museum’s new permanent facility in downtown Chatham, New York. The project involves the adaptive reuse and expansion of a historic building to exhibit the museum’s collection and provide extensive community programming. Known for their simple yet highly functional objects, the Shakers’ values of inclusion, equality, and innovation could not be more relevant today.
Speaking of the commission, principal Annabelle Selldorf noted: “As a firm we are committed to creating spaces and buildings of integrity, that are welcoming and bring people together in the spirit of inclusion and inquiry. It is a pleasure to be collaborating with a client whose values are so closely aligned with our own. This is a powerful moment to reflect on the Shaker legacy and its enduring lessons for contemporary society.”
We look forward to collaborating with Nelson Byrd Woltz, who have been selected as Landscape Architects for the project.
